Water managed by Durness and Kinlochbervie Angling Club
Loch Mór a Chraisg lies in the Highland hills, roughly three kilometres inland from the coast. This small loch of about 22 hectares sits in wonderful moorland, surrounded by seven satellite lochans including Loch Deibheadh. The water is shallow with moderate alkalinity, and the shoreline shows gentle bays and points along its perimeter.
The loch holds good brown trout of up to and over a pound in weight, along with plenty of smaller fish. All the waters in this chain of lochans can be easily covered from the bank, making for a memorable day out in the hills.
The approach follows a winding route of roughly four kilometres through the moor, passing between the scattered lochans before reaching the main water. The path threads its way across the open ground, offering fine views of this chain of hill lochs set among the heather.
