Water managed by Durness and Kinlochbervie Angling Club
Loch a Phreasan Chailltean lies in the low ground of Highland Scotland, just over a kilometre from the coast. It is a small loch of roughly 11 hectares, with a highly irregular shoreline that creates numerous bays and headlands around its modest perimeter. The water is moderately alkaline and of shallow to moderate depth, set among terrain of mixed geology.
The loch offers peaceful fishing in spectacular surroundings and is particularly well-suited for introducing children to hill-loch angling. It holds a good stock of brown trout averaging six to eight ounces in weight. Bank fishing covers most of the water easily, with many inviting casting points among the varied shoreline. The south shore is generally most productive, though fish can be taken all round the loch depending on wind direction.
The route to the loch follows a winding path for about two and a half kilometres, threading through the low hills and moorland before reaching the varied shores of this secluded water.
