Water managed by Durness and Kinlochbervie Angling Club
Loch na Làire Duibhe lies among the rough ground of Ceatlramh Garbh, just over a kilometre from the coast in Highland. This very small loch of roughly 8 hectares sits in low ground, with a moderately irregular shoreline that forms several bays and headlands. The water is shallow, with low alkalinity typical of these peaty hill waters.
The loch holds traditional Highland brown trout averaging six to eight ounces. The fish can be hard work to make rise, but they fight well once hooked and provide great sport on light tackle.
Access is from the minor road leading out to Ardmore, where you can park and follow the outlet stream. The route makes a pleasant, easy ramble of just under two kilometres, exploring and fishing four delightful small lochans on Ceatlramh Garbh along the way to Loch na Làire Duibhe.
Catch and release; release all fish under 10 inches, unharmed.
No more than two fish taken per session.

Cape Wrath live firing range
Cape Wrath is an active MOD live firing range. If red flags or lights are displayed, do not enter the danger area marked on the map, no matter what the published times say. Blanks and pyrotechnics may be used at any hour, so obey all signs.
Check Cape Wrath firing times (GOV.UK) before you go — these show when firing is permitted, not confirmed bookings, so treat only the times outside them as safe.
