Water managed by Portree Angling Association
The River Brogaig runs south for a few miles before emptying into Staffin Bay, a small spate river that depends on fresh rain to bring fish up from the sea. Holding pools are distributed throughout its full length, from the lower reaches all the way to Sartle, giving the river a productive character even when conditions are modest.
It carries runs of sea trout and the occasional salmon, and the upper reaches hold some good brown trout as well. All legal methods are permitted, a choice made to encourage younger anglers into the sport. Parking is available with care in Brogaig itself or at Sartle Cemetery, making access to both ends of the river straightforward.
