Loch Corcasgil is a very small loch lying among the hill ground of northern Skye, roughly five kilometres from the coast and set below the long spine of the Trotternish ridge. It covers just over two hectares and, despite its modest size, holds moderate depth — enough to give the water some character through the seasons. The shoreline is moderately irregular, with a few bays and points breaking what would otherwise be a simple outline. The loch sits at a height where the ground is open and exposed, and with a fetch of little more than 350 metres it offers some shelter from the prevailing wind.
The loch holds brown trout and is noted for good early season fishing, particularly when conditions are right. It is best fished alongside neighbouring Loch Dubhar-sgoth, the two waters forming part of a group of hill lochs in this corner of the Trotternish.
Access is from the road end at Maligar. The route heads west and south over rough moorland for around four kilometres, passing through the Bealach Uige before reaching the lochs. It is a long walk over open ground and the going is uneven throughout, but the path through the bealach gives a natural line into the corrie where the water lies.
