Loch Cuithir lies on the Tromternish peninsula of Skye, reached by a rough track that climbs inland from the coast road near Lealt. The surrounding ground is open and boggy, the hills rising steeply to the west, and the whole landscape carries the character of high, exposed moorland. The area has an industrial past — diatomite was once extracted here at scale — and remnants of that history linger in the ground around the loch.
The fishery is fly only.
From the A855, park at the Lealt Falls car park and follow the track inland. The walk takes around forty minutes on foot, though the track is passable by four-wheel drive with care, bringing the loch within easy reach of the vehicle.
