Loch Sneosdal lies in the low ground on the western side of the Trotternish Ridge, roughly three kilometres from the coast. It is a small loch of around nine hectares, with a simple, rounded outline and a moderate depth for its size. The water is clear, and the underlying geology gives it a reasonable alkalinity — more productive than the peaty hill lochs that characterise much of Skye's higher ground.
No fish records are held for this loch.
The approach is from Herbusta, where limited roadside parking is available. From there the route heads south and east across open ground, climbing gradually toward the ridge before the loch comes into view — a walk of around three and a half kilometres in total.
