Loch nam Ban lies above Glenbeg, a short way inland from the sea. It is a very small water of about 2 hectares, generally shallow with a mean depth around five metres, and shows low alkalinity. The shoreline is simple and regular, giving easy going around its modest circuit. Trout average about 8 oz, with the occasional fish over 2 lb.

Access is on foot from Glenbeg. The route heads north‑east for just under a kilometre, climbing steadily by around seventy metres to reach the loch.
