water managed by Assynt Angling Group
Loch an Alltain Duibh lies downstream from Suileag Bothy, set on low ground. It is a very small, shallow water of roughly 6 hectares, with moderate alkalinity and clear water over an average depth of about 5 metres. The shoreline turns in gentle curves with a few small bays and short points, giving a circuit of just over a kilometre.
The loch holds small brown trout that take the dry fly readily in the clear conditions. Access is on foot from Suileag Bothy, going downstream to reach the shore.
Assynt Angling Group sells permits in 3 ‘zones’ - East, West and South.
More information about permits and boar hire can be found on their website.
