Water managed by Ruantallain Estate
Lindsay’s Loch lies in the low ground of Argyll and Bute, roughly two kilometres inland from the coast. It is a very small water of just over 1.5 hectares, shallow overall with a simple, rounded shoreline. The water has moderate alkalinity, suggesting reasonable productivity for its size.
There is a tradition on the estate to name the unnamed lochs after whoever first catches a fish in them — the estate owner, Lindsay Bury, must have enjoyed success on this one. The loch holds some excellent trout up to three pounds. There is no need to wade as the fish hold close to the margins, so a cautious approach and keeping low are essential.
