Water managed by Portree Angling Association
The River Snizort is Skye's premier salmon river, and the Glenmore beat occupies the upper reaches, where the water runs through open country before the river broadens and slows towards the lower beats. The character here is that of a Highland spate river, with pools and runs that respond to rainfall and hold fish best when fresh water is coming through.
The Association holds both banks on the Glenmore beat and the left bank of the Achaleathain, with the beats clearly marked by numbered signs. Salmon and sea trout run well into these upper reaches, and fifteen salmon were taken last season despite only light fishing pressure. Resident brown trout are also present in good numbers, adding variety when the migratory fish are not moving. Access is straightforward, either by parking near the road in Glenmore and walking down to the river, or by leaving a vehicle on the Portree to Struan road at NG416436 and following the forestry track in.
