Loch Duagrich lies in low ground close to the Skye coast, barely three kilometres from the sea. It covers roughly 37 hectares — modest in extent but with a moderately irregular outline of bays and low promontories. The water is clear and productive, underlain by base-rich geology that gives it high alkalinity, and the mean depth runs to a little over five and a half metres. The fetch across the loch is limited, just under a kilometre and a half at its longest, so it can sit sheltered when the wider peninsula is blowing hard.
The loch drains via an outflow to the River Snizort, and it is this connection that makes Duagrich worth particular attention. Salmon and sea trout run through from the coast, and the chance of either species lifts this water well above the ordinary. Brown trout are present throughout and can be taken from the bank; most run to around half a pound, though larger fish are caught. A boat is available to members.
The route to the loch heads east from the minor road near Treaslane, tracking across open ground for around two and a half kilometres before reaching the western shore. The going is straightforward, through low farmland and rough pasture, with the loch coming into view as the ground flattens toward the water's edge.
