A good starting on point on Loch Na Craoibhe, is where the boat is moored midway on the western shoreline. Start here and drift towards the narrow bay in the northeast corner, passing the sizeable prominent boulder.
Both boat and bank anglers frequently visit the lower section of the loch, which connects with Loch Nam Falcag, as this can also provide excellent sport.
The eastern side of this section, including the points, bays, and headlands, is where you’ll find the most productive fishing.
The trout typically weigh 10 to 12 ounces, and on a good day, you can catch 8 to 15 fish.
Dabblers, Bumbles, Clan Chief, Ombudsman, and Peter Ross, are some of the most effective fly patterns for fishing in this region. However, exercise caution if you plan to go fishing in May, as salmon smolts tend to congregate in the loch, primarily in the northeast corner, before migrating downstream to the sea at Laxay. With this in mind, always use barbless or debarbed hooks, so any smolts can be slipped back with limited handling.
