Loch na Sguabaidh lies in the low ground of Highland Scotland, barely four hundred metres from the sea. It is a small loch of roughly 14 hectares, set among coastal moorland with a moderately irregular shoreline of bays and headlands. The fetch is short, under a kilometre, and the water sits sheltered and close to the tideline.
The loch fishes for both sea trout and brown trout, the latter averaging around eight to ten ounces. Sea trout are the main draw, and the fishing extends down the river that runs from the loch to the sea. Timing is everything here — a spell after a spate brings fish through, and anglers are advised to keep well back from the riverbank to avoid disturbing them. The south end of the loch is considered the most productive.
A track runs directly to the lochside, making this one of the more straightforward waters to reach in the area. The route from the road covers less than one kilometre, heading north-west to the loch shore.
