Sae Water lies close to the sea, set in low ground a little over a kilometre inland. It is a very small, shallow loch of roughly five hectares, with a mean depth just over three metres and a simple outline. The water has low alkalinity.
It was fished for sea-trout that ran up from the Laxo system; a few still enter and it is now little fished. The west shore is weedy and the brown trout are mostly small.
