Water managed by Shetland Anglers Association
Longa Water lies in the low ground of Shetland, roughly a kilometre and a half from the coast. It is a small loch of about eight and a half hectares, with a simple, gently curved shoreline and a moderate depth for its size. The catchment is dominated by peat, though the water carries moderate alkalinity and does not run as dark as many Shetland lochs. The fetch is short, and the loch sits sheltered from the longer winds that scour the more exposed hill waters nearby.
The loch is little fished by local anglers, but there are said to be some good fish present. Spinning is likely to be more effective than the fly on this water.
