Water managed by Reasort Estates
Loch ma Creaganan Gròid lies in the low ground of Na h-Eileanan an Iar, barely two kilometres from the western seaboard of the Outer Hebrides. It is a very small loch of roughly 8 hectares, set among the acid moorland typical of this part of the islands. The shoreline is markedly irregular — a complex outline of bays and projecting points that gives the water a greater sense of variety than its modest area might suggest. The fetch is short, well under a kilometre, and the loch sits low enough to draw some shelter from the prevailing Atlantic winds. Depth reaches around five or six metres in places, though the overall character remains shallow, and the low alkalinity of the moorland catchment keeps the water lean.
The loch holds brown trout averaging around eight to ten ounces.
Access from the north involves a walk of just under six kilometres on foot, starting near the road to the east and tracking broadly south and west across open ground. The route follows a long, gradual arc with a modest ascent of around a hundred metres before descending to reach the loch near its southern shore.
