water managed by Cambrian Angling Association
Llynnau’r Cwn, or “Lakes of the Hound”, lie to the north west of Blaenau Ffestiniog, in Snowdonia National Park. Comprising of three small lakes they sit at over 600 metres, with spectacular views towards the north, west and south.
Although all 3 llyns contain small fish, the north llyn, which is also the lowest, probably offers the best fishing, but the southerly llyn, which is the highest, fishes nicely too. These are very small lakes and it goes without saying that good fish handling will ensure the longevity of these wild fish and sport for years to come.
The fishing rights are held by Cambrian Angling Association, and a 2.5 hour walk from Tanygrisiau or Crimea Pass is required to get there. Size #16 loch flies work well, including Hogs, Invicta, Elk hair Caddis,
or Hares ear.
