Dovestone Reservoir

Dovestone Reservoir lies in a broad, open setting, the water held within a neat basin and surrounded by easy ground. It is a small reservoir of roughly 31 hectares and generally shallow, with an irregular margin and a wide reach of open water. The water is soft, with low alkalinity.

The reservoir contains brown trout up to 8 ounces. Park at Bin Green; parking is free, though it gets busy on weekends. From there, well-maintained paths encircle the shoreline; an easy, nearly level walk of just under two kilometres heads east, then curves south to reach the quieter east bank, set away from the busier circuit.
